2018 l'Alezan 'L'Excuse'
Grape/s: Gamay, Cinsault
This is beautifully balanced as soon as you smell it. Small wild berries, forest walks, nice savoury characters. I guess the thing is that you can smell many elements, and not just a few traits. This has them all, in small details, but complex. Tiny bursted blueberries. Age-ability in spades. Hot cross buns. Such fine detail. On the palate a very genuine approach, real wine. Nice slightly sour acidity. Fine grainy tannins, sandy. The wine drifts on the tongue and spreads out delicately. It’s very graceful, and then finishes with gentle tension. It’s not bright, but lifted with it’s aromas. Lots of mid palate, but refined. Perfectly assembled, and something you want to drink and enjoy with a meal. A medium bodied red that is perfect for these colder months. - Larkin Imports
