2018 Patrice Beguet 'Fresh Impressions Blanc'
Grape/s: Chardonnay, Grenache Blanc, Melon de Bourgogne, Ploussard
Patrice has gone kinda wacky on this wine but it has been expertly blended. Everything is very calculated and balanced. Something that I find Patrice to be very, very good at! A collaboration between Patrice's friends Benoit Landron from the Loire Valley, Claude Ughetto from Mont Vontoux and Domaine Trichon from Bugey. It consists of 50% Chardonnay from Bugey, 20% Grenache Blanc from Mont Ventoux, 20% Melon de B from the Loire and 10% Ploussard from the Jura. Patrice and his crew pick all these from the source and by hand. 80% is direct press with 20% left to macerate on skins. Vinification is with indigenous yeast at low temperature and malo in stainless steel where it spends all its time before bottling. No sulphites or filtration at any stage. It's a fresh and zippy wine with a little dissolved CO2. - Greg Murphy Wine Imports
